IBM’s zEnterprise BC12: Powerful, Comprehensive, Impactful
With low cost hardware combined with a variety of industry solutions, as well as with ad-vanced management facilities and a shared-everything design, the mainframe represents one of the most efficient platforms in the market for Linux and cloud consolidation. Enterprises that are running large server farms of x86-based servers should look closely at the zBC12 as a low cost alternative. But I also expect the new zEnterprise BC12 to open new doors for mainframe computing, especially when IT buyers realize that they can expect to lower their total cost of ownership costs by over 50% over a five year period by switching to mainframe architecture. My overall interpretation of the new zEnterprise BC12 and related offerings is this: IBM has created the most compelling entry point into mainframe computing ever.
