Diary of a Windows 8 User

I’m struck by the dichotomy between how much people complain about Windows 8 and how much better than Windows 7 and especially Windows XP it actually is. The problem with any dominant product is that it has to improve enough over its predecessor to be compelling but not do so in a way that makes migration painful.

In short, every new version of Windows has the prior version as its prior competitor, not iOS or Android. We really don’t like change, but I’ve been using Windows 8 now since it launched and for me, going back to Windows 7 or, God help me, Windows XP is equally painful.

So I thought I’d take a moment to talk about how much greener the grass really is on the Windows 8 side.
