Catalogic Tackles the Explosion of Data Copies Problem
Is it a problem if you don’t know that you have it? The answer may very well be: yes. In fact, Catalogic Software would argue that the problem of copy data management is very real, even though you may not be aware of it. Let’s see why that is the case and what Catalogic Software is doing about it.
Copies, copies everywhere: the need to shrink and manage
A “production” copy of data is the official working copy of that data. If that were the only copy, no copy data management problem would exist, but it isn’t. Instead, there are typically multiple copies of the data, including those that are exact replicas of the production data as it is this very instant (mirror copies) and copies that reflect the state of the production data at a previous time (old snapshots and backup copies).
