1. Be a good model to your kids
If you want your kid to adhere to the vegan lifestyle, you should follow it yourself. Eat only the food that you want your kids to eat. Refrain from giving them non vegan treats such as french fries or ice cream too much. However, do not completely abstain them from such food either. Balance is the key to showing your kids that being a vegan has healthy benefits for them.
2. Be with other vegans and people supportive of vegans
If you have a family doctor that is constantly questioning your capacity to maintain the health of your kids as a vegan, chances are they are definitely working in opposition to your choice. If that’s the case, find a doctor that is receptive and an expert when it comes to being a vegan. Family members that are against vegan cannot be replaced, but you can replace your doctor if they are ever against it. Make sure to do so, to ensure that nothing is opposing your kid from having a healthy vegan lifestyle.
3. Explain veganism to kids properly and at the right time
Make sure to introduce veganism to your kids when they can fully understand what it is so that they will be serious about being a vegan. A proper explanation will do wonders to making your kids be knowledgeable about being a vegan. Also, introduce the vegan diet to them at the right age. You can go for a Vegan For A Day (vfd) in order to introduce vegan foods to your kids. Developing kids need the nutrients and vitamins of non vegan foods, and do not eliminate it from their diet. Remember that you probably did not start as a vegan yourself too. Do not force veganism on kids of very young age, and especially not babies as they need the vitamins they can get from a variety of diet, which includes meat.
