And Now… IBM’s Network Hypervisor

At this point, we are all very familiar with server hypervisors, and even storage hypervisors, but IBM has taken hypervisors a step further in announcing its new network hypervisor, Software Defined Network for Virtual Environments (SDN VE). And why not? The concept of a hypervisor can be just as easily extended to the network as it has been to servers and storage. A few other vendors are known to be working on a network hypervisor, including Nicira (recently acquired by VMware), but IBM has announced general availability of its SDN VE in 2H 2013.
