IBM Storage Continues to Move Forward
In a recent interview with Charles King of Pund-IT, Tom Rosamilia, SVP of IBM’s Systems and Technology Group and Integrated Supply Chain, explained why the company is divesting the System x business by saying that IBM is looking for an “innovator’s margin” (as a reward for providing value-added differentiated products through R&D efforts), and also noted that the company is a “much better value provider than a volume provider.” Rosamilia also pointed out, in effect, that remaking the storage portfolio is another area where IBM plans to gain higher value through innovation.
